Earthquake hits eastern NEPAL

An earthquake measuring magnitude 5.4 struck eastern Nepal on Friday, but there are no immediate reports of casualties, the US Geological Survey and Nepali authorities said today.
   
The earthquake was centered 70 km north of Namche Bazar, and had a depth of 10 km. Authorities in Nepal said- the quake measured 6.0 and was felt in Solukhumbu area where Mount Everest is located.
  
"Nepali villages south of Mount Everest felt the earthquake but there is no report of any damage or injuries yet," the district governor of Solukhumbu said.
